I told my friend’s mother that I was with my friend all evening yesterday. In truth my friend went out with the guy that her mother has forbidden her to see because he just got out of jail for assault. This guy is very handsome and seems to really care about my friend. I hate that I lied to this woman – she has been so kind to me – but I promised I wouldn’t tell the truth. Now I can’t shake the guilt.
