I drove My old best friend to cut. She’s been feeling like a third wheel and I have been so busy and so stressed about everything I actually end up saying things I don’t mean and now she has cuts on her wrist. And tbh, I want to cut so badly too. The pain is eating me alive and I’ve had so many mental breakdowns and panic attacks. I’m just done.

  • Don’t do it. There was probably other things bothering your friend as well, and if you start it doesn’t help her at all. Also, as an experienced cutter, it is a lot harder to stop than it is to start. It tears you apart more than a mental breakdown ever will. Stay strong.

  • You didn’t drive your friend to do anything. YOU are not responsible for her mental health. If she suffers from depression there are probably a million things real or imagined eating at her, but you can’t just put aside your whole life for her. If you do that she’ll become too dependent on you and that isn’t healthy for either of you. Trust me, I’ve been there.

Be strong. Write poetry or journals, go outside and scream, do anything to alleviate your anxiety but don’t start harming yourself. It will accomplish nothing. Just remind yourself you are not your friend’s keeper. You are not responsible for what she does. If anything encourage her to see a therapist.
