There’s a probability that this confession will make me sound like the “average teenager”. Here we go:
I’m sixteen and he’s seventeen, we have know each other for a year, been dating for five. He use to live in town, but moved to a different township 90 minutes away. So, we would always contact each other through text messaging. The first two months were great, he’d always have something to say. In the mornings, he would always text me “Good morning” even if I wasn’t up yet. He would call me “Sweetheart”, and say all those sweet things a girl would want to hear. He always wanted to hear what I had to say, it never bothered him if I repeated something or just rambled on.
But now, things are different. He stopped making plans, he stopped calling me his sweetheart, he stopped texting me good morning and he can go weeks without texting me. All of our conversations are the same, he’ll reply with a “yeah” or “lol”. And most of them start with me texting him first after three weeks of no contact. I can be having a bad day and the only comforting words he can offer is “i’m sorry” . Maybe I’m being obsessive, but the feelings aren’t there anymore.
And there has come to a point right now, that I need to straighten things out with myself. I want to have the courage to tell him that we need to remain friends until I get myself sorted out. But, I’m afraid that he’ll find someone new within two weeks and that I’ll no longer have a chance to be loved again. I feel like he’s the only chance I have, because what he now offers is all that I deserve.
Maybe this is just a teenager issue, I don’t know. Is it all in my head? Am I just paranoid? Give me some advice here, please.
