The tree is a symbol of all the things in her life that are consuming her. Her spirit is drowning in pain, and she feels exposed and alone. Her body is twisted and bruised throughout the trees limbs as if it is impossible for her to escape and she is being weighed down. The bottom of the tree is alive and healthy, full of rich colors and vibrant leafs, a symbol of who she used to be. Her free hand reaches in desperation to the area that is alive and well as she wishes to be like that again, but because of the way she is positioned she cannot reach. As the tree grows, it begins to die and become grey. A symbol of hopelessness. She has given up because nothing seems to be going right in her life. She feels alone, more than anything else. There are arrows lodged in her chest and torso but there is nobody around to pull them out. She has been gunned down and walks around with arrows coming out of her, but nobody seems to notice. Though everything in her is telling her to hold just a little longer and reach just a little further, it seems so much easier to let go. A sweet release from pain, from a conscious that never stops reminding her how ugly she is and how she’s good, but not great. Because right now it feels like the ones she loves are ripping her heart out and toying with it. Leaving it exposed in her chest for magpies to come and pick at. She is caring less and less each day because she is tired. She is tired of trying to be perfect for people who do not care enough. She is tired of thinking about her future because it seems that the only things she can focus on are the negatives. She is tired of smiling all day and she is tired of trying not to cry. When she smiles her heart hurts, and when she frowns he head hurts. She walks through her days with her eyes blurred, trying to mask her reality from the ugliness that it is. She aches for strong arms to be around her and all she wants from the world is to be wanted back.
