I was an amateur boxer, and was incredibly good at it. I won a lot of fights and I was told that I could go professional; I did some professional undercard fights, was even on ESPN in Bristol Tennessee for a fight I unfortunately lost. 3 years later I got addicted to heroin and alcohol. I’m now 46 years old and my “Dream” is gone. I’m single, no kids, and live paycheck to paycheck in a one bedroom apartment. I work a lousy job as a dockworker. And I’m going to die a drug addict. I think back on all of the people I used to box with, who are now professional, famous, or are otherwise living normal lives. And I look at my life, and realize how much it’s nearly over for me.
