I’m a psychologist, and I’m sick of it. I don’t want to do this anymore; I feel useless when I’m with patients, It’s making it even more difficult since I realized that life is a matter of choices. I loved the subjects, studying..hell, it’s extremely interesting; but alas…when one graduates and you look for a job, endlessly, getting the door closed right in your face if you don’t have a master degree, or a diploma on this or that, or 5 years experience… it’s awful. Hospitals expect us to treat patients in 15 minute intervals, and that really gets us nowhere; they also expect excellent results (cure this person from depression in 3 months or else you’re out because your treatment is costing us $$$$) … if one works independently, it takes forever before one can actually make a living out of it. I don’t know, I feel useless. What annoys me the most is that I have no idea what else I can do… I wanted to be a therapist since I was 10 yrs old. By then I had read a few books written by Freud, and by 15 I already knew the infamous DSM… which I now can barely tolerate.

And then, since I’m a humanistic psychologist, when I have doubts on any subject and ask for some help to older therapists, they look at me and answer in s***** ways like “we’re humanistic… we don’t have specific approaches” …wtf is this s***? are you kidding me? now all we do suddenly is improvise? wait for whatever to happen and go from there? seriously? It’s very painful to hate so much a career I loved so dearly. It really does pain me and it brings tears to my eyes. It’s just awful to hate so much something I was so excited about in my life.
