To the person whose father raped them: (and I know many of you are raising your hands)
It will help you so much if you find anyone in the way of an outlet, even if it is online. Releasing your feelings in the aftermath of your experience is probably the single greatest thing you can do in the interest of your self-preservation.
If you can’t afford to even THINK about therapy… maybe go to an online journal website and begin writing honestly of your feelings regarding the experience and your later thoughts. A site like Blogger or Prosebox would be suitable. But whatever you do, keep yourself COMPLETELY ANONYMOUS when writing of your experience… with the priority being that you can CONTINUE to be as raw and honest as you need or want to be. There are enough people using such websites that a few sincere souls will pause to strike up a conversation, and a useful ‘friendship’ with you. But still, nothing is more important than your merely having that avenue to EXPRESS outward… just to let-out some of the turmoil that you likely feel in the aftermath. It’s OK to be shockingly honest when you are writing with sincerity, and people will be able to handle what you write. Of course what happened to you was wrong, and will always be wrong in any context. You didn’t bring any of it upon yourself – it is all your father’s shortcomings as a person… as well as he himself likely having been abused when he was younger. The world wishes for you a way to express your feelings and help you to start to process them at the same time. I’m sorry for what your father put you through.
