The reason I fell out of love with you is not because you weren’t pretty enough. It’s not because you weren’t smart enough. It’s not because you weren’t perfect. It’s not because we came from two completely opposite sides of the world. It’s not because we didn’t have boundaries in the last months of our relationship. It’s none of that stuff.
It’s because I figured you out completely and there was no mystery left. You limit yourself. You convinced yourself you wanted my love more than you wanted self love. You stopped developing. You were stuck on being one version of yourself at all times when you were around me because you were so afraid to let loose. You didn’t want me to see all of you. You were hiding in plain sight.
I think you wanted it to end too, but we’re convinced by culture that you “had to” stay with me. So I set us both free the only way I could.
Love is letting go, not holding with desperation. Everytime you hugged me, you wouldn’t let go when I did. Everytime you called, you wouldn’t let me end the conversation. You’re afraid of abandonment, not in love with me. That’s codependency.
