I discouraged my best friend from getting his novel published because being an author is my dream. He’s already a successful archaeologist, I don’t have anything and if he want to succeed at my dream before I did I couldn’t have accepted that. He finished the book but never published it. Now I’m older I realise I should have encouraged him and then I could have used him for networking purposes in the future.

And of course I feel bad about being a terrible friend.
