My friends get me. They’re caring. They can be funny. They can be clever and smart. They’re open minded. But I would literally never introduce them to anyone becuase they embarrass the f*** out of me. I’ve known them since high school and they just haven’t done a lot with their lives, but that’s not what’s embarrassing. What’s embarrassing is that the cloistered, boring lives they’ve led have left them in a state of arrested developement- they are unworldly, classless, and sometimes even childish and naive. I once ordered a gin and tonic and my friend was like “What’s that?” and I was like “Uh… it’s a gin & tonic.” and she was like “Oh? What’s in it?” I laughed & everyone else laughed cuz we thought she was kidding, but she wasn’t! And it’s just a million small moments like these where their dorkiness sorta shines through & I feel like such a stuck up, snobby, backstabbing turd when I go out & meet new people & make new groups of friends. My friends are nice people. They’re just so… dweeby.
