Thumbs up if I did the right thing. During Hurricane Dorian, I worked at a shelter. A man came for help, and he was turned away for being a s** offender. A cop literally pushed him out into that oncoming storm, left to die or drown. I quit. How can I see a man, left to drown? I went out after him, and just wiped away his tears and held him. He told me his life didn’t matter. It mattered to me. We stayed together during the whole storm and we are both okay.
I couldn’t work for an organization that leaves anyone to fend for themselves in such a catastrophe.
