Why are people so cruel? I was arrested for threatening my neighbor with a very realistic looking fake rifle. I have an anxiety disorder and after the handcuffs were put on me, I had a panic attack. An ambulance was called. I was in the back of the ambulance with two paramedics and the police officer.
After the cuffs were removed, I held out my hand wanting someone to hold it. No one did. Instead of pumping me with sedatives, a mere hand hold could have released the panic. It would have shown me someone truly cared about me, that I was safe, and was still wanted in my community. The world needs a big lesson in caring- everyone, including criminals, deserve caring.
