What is a safe way to take public transport in Lebanon?

I recently met a girl I’ve known online for a while. She came from France and we went together to the mountains, had a great time. Basically we had a great day. It all starts at the end of the day when I was taking her back to find a bus. Well first of all we picked up a bus and I asked the driver if he’s going to Hamra. He said yes he was, so I told him to take care of the lady, and he said “yes let her sit next to me” …I hesitated. I didn’t tell my friend to do anything, just to tell the driver to take her to Beirut, didn’t want her sitting next to the driver as I wouldn’t trust bus drivers at night. Then 10 minutes later I was worried that she was by herself. So I tried calling her…and then she called back telling me the driver is telling her he wants to kiss her.

I told her to let me speak to him, and in a firm straightforward tone I told the driver to drop her at dora…he handed her back to me on the phone and I asked her what he told her…and she said that he wanted to kiss her. So I spoke to him again asked him what he said and he claimed he wanted to drive her to beirut. So I said “yes just do that, drop her at Dora”.

I said a little prayer, and then 10 minutes later she calls. And says she screamed at the driver to let her out of the bus and he did and then she found a safe service taxi to take her home. I’m glad I handled the driver well and I see now he probably hadn’t the guts to tell me what he really told her. Like by calling me she put him back in place.

But yes back to the question, what is a safe way for public transport in Lebanon?

  • I’m glad everything turned out good in the end but you really took a big risk by letting her go alone. Especially since she’s a foreign girl. Haven’t you heard all the stories about girls and services/buses? The safest way for public transportation is calling a taxi like Star, Charlie, or Allo Taxi. Those are the biggest (I think) and each driver has their pick-up and drop-off times recorded and all their identity information is with the company. No driver tries anything. Of course, no form of public transportation is 100% safe. So far as you are in the hands of strangers in a public space, you’re always vulnerable.

  • i am a lebanese girl and i swear on my life when i say that there are NO safe public transportations. If i tell you every single thing that happened with me you will be outraged.
apart the whole Masturbating in front of you and sometimes asking you to join on the action, the one thing that i remember cristal clear was in a bus. i was on my way to beirut, going down by bus; only 2 places left one for me and then 1 for the next person to come up.
a guy comes up sits next to me. he hears me talking on the phone in englsh and he puts on a smile. at some point he was falling asleep at the curtain hit him due to the wind. he turned at me and said joking that i hit him with it; i gave him an oh so fake smile and returned to my phone. i could see him from the tip of my eye, i was moving alot. didnt react kept playing on my phone.
when he was ready, he stood up (his waist leveling with my face) got closer to me and made it seem as if he was trying to fix the curtain; you wouldnt guess…. all the moving was for him to get his dick to come out from the top of his pants.
when he saw that i had no reaction he decided to get even closer, i had to stick my head to the window to avoid getting touched by him. when he sat down i started cursing at him in arabic talking to him loudly so that pple on the bus could hear me i made a fool out of him to a point he didnt know what he was supposed to do so he went down….
as strong as i was then, i was weaker throughout the day. i couldnt handle my boyfreind even holding my hand i was so disgusted, and shaken..

Moral to the story, for a girl to survive in the transportation jungle she has got to be strong and not take any shit.

  • My ex girlfriend had to go through something like that. On new year’s eve, we were together in Sessine, and she took a ‘service’ cab towards Kola. The driver went into dark streets and started using some kind of black magic on her, he made her touch his cock and then touch herself, even though she was at the back seat and is disgusted by men. She’s very strong, and if she was 100% awake back then, she would’ve hit him and went out of the car. When she realized what was happening, she cursed at him and made him stop the car.. She is still traumatized. It’s sad how transportation leads to so many horrible things in Lebanon, but as T.A. said, it’s always best to call a cab from companies. I personally use GS Taxi after sunset. When it’s still light, I can go in services. I’m very lucky because even though I’m a girl, a lot of people mistake me for a guy. I dress in a masculine way and have short messy hair, so it’s hard to guess I’m a girl.. There’s no risk for me, unless the driver is gay. Then, wish me luck.
