  • Return only if you feel you want to. But talk this in order you make them know the way you felt with what they did. Be open and frank.

  • I’m so sorry to hear this has happened to you. Before you make any rash decision, think about who they want you to be. They only want the best for you. They love you. they were only in shock because it’s news most parents put to the back of their minds because every parent wants their child to grow up healthy get married and have kids.

Yes, be open about who you are with them. They love you, they will understand. If not at first, give them time to process it and let them apologise for what they have done. You never meant to hurt them, and I hope they know that.

  • They were probably shocked and upset and didn’t know how else to react. To a lot of people it is still a difficult thing to accept. Try not to hold it against them. They grew up in a different time and most older people don’t adjust well or quickly to change, especially this kind of change. Now they’ve had time to think about it and let the news sink in. Go talk to them before you move back in. Tell them that you understand they are having a hard time accepting it but that this is who you are and you aren’t going to change. Tell them you love them and you want them to love you as you are. Maybe suggest going to counseling with them if they are having a really hard time with it. There are groups out there to support families of gay people who are having trouble accepting it.
