Life? Long have the days gone

Life?

Long have the days gone of simple life. We now spend much time on entertainment, for indeed the pull force of entertainment is like that of gravity upon ourselves. Much time is spent on this entertainment.

There is little doubt that time spent in a certain area equates to time lost in another. In todays modern capitalist society we find much competition, whilst arguably such may have existed in pre-modern societies, there is little doubt that it has not been to such an extent as we see today as a result of globalisation. We are fed on a daily basis with biased news, much of which is contained in news reports. Whilst biased, there lies a truth within. Certainly the global economic situation is one which we are far too familiar with.

We indeed have many concerns and thus seek to acquire knowledge through social institutions, namely the education system. This system in itself remains competitive at its ends. Yet when some manage to gain access, the ordinary folk fase a dilemma.

Spending time on what makes us happy or keeps us peaceful, such as entertainment no doubt disrupts our flow of learning. We are given the difficult task of reading volumes upon volumes, our hair will turn grey, yet we fall short of what is required. This burden is no doubt one of several reasons for stress and as such further distrupts our lives.

Yet if we were to pass through such institutions and gaining social acceptance, we are fased with much worries ahead. This is the exploitive workforce which we must inevitably accept as a means of survival.

It is indeed a question I ask of you, how do we balance our lives?
How do we achieve a state of peacefulness physically and physiologically?

  • There is no peace or harmony while you keep focused in the external world.
To get to such a state, I assume you gotta step aside and seek somewhere else. Like within yourself. That’s the main source of trouble, your own self or ego. When you understand that, you are ready for a change. Until this happens you will never stop to put the blame on society and all the rest, which is useless.

  • @1, Whilst ones own preception is a contributing factor, would you not agree, that to a large extent the blaim may well lie with uncontrolable external factors?
Is our very survival not dependant on such institutions? A state of peace or harmony may as you say come from within, but, I ask you, could we reasonably disregard those external factors?
Does your approach not justify social inequalities?

  • Why are we assuming there has to be a balance in the first place? Is not the beauty of life the very diversity and individuality we try to embrace? Perhaps letting things be is what we don’t know how to do.

And I’d rather achieve a state of peacefulness mentally before physically or physiologically. Your biggest source of peace or fear is your mind.
