My 15-year-old brother is gay. When he came out to our parents, they threw him out and said all sorts of horrible things to him. When I found out (I attend college in a different state), I was absolutely hurt and livid that they would treat their only son like that. I drove the 200 miles back home, picked him up, and called our parents.

All I said to them was, “you just lost your daughter on top of your son.”

He now lives with me and my roommate, has lots of friends at his new school, we have no contact with our “parents”, and we couldn’t be happier.
