This is more of an observation than a confession. But I need to share it with somebody who isn’t my judgmental wife…
I took a road trip to a campground this weekend, about four hours from my home. I live in a big city, but I was raised in the country. I consider myself a country boy still, despite having live in a big city for 20 years now.
Anyway, I stopped in a total of four different small towns along the way, each time to grab a bite to eat. Each diner I stopped at was packed with people. The parking lot was full of pickup trucks, and the people were all very friendly. Just like I remembered from my time in the country growing up.
But when I looked around I realized: EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE PEOPLE IS OBESE. Like, not just big or overweight, but obese. At least 50 diners in one spot, 30 in another, etc… I did not see one single healthy-weighted person while I was there.
There were some big people in my small town growing up, but not ALL of them. It’s like anyone with a normal body got the hell out of there, leaving just the scraps behind.
