I embarrassed a coworker tonight. Ordinarily that would be no big deal but he happens to be the owner’s son. He works in the kitchen (well, he stays in the kitchen most of the time while WE work) at the restaurant where I have been a line cook for almost a year. I’ll call him Mike.
Mike gets more frequent breaks than the rest of us and he spends many of them in his car. The boss happened to tell me to take my break just as Mike was supposed to be coming back from his. She asked me to tell him to get back inside if I saw him out there. So, I walked over to his car and he was jacking off looking at p*** on his phone. I started to walk away but just as I did, he looked out and saw me. He immediately got his stuff put away and hopped out of the car asking me in a loud voice why I was spying on him and asking how much I had seen.
I told him that I had just got there and that yes, I saw him jacking off but only for a second and I wouldn’t say anything about it.
He acted really weird with me after that and I think he’s going to try to get me fired because he told one of our coworkers that I was harassing him. WTF? How do I fight it if he does? I didn’t harass him – if anything I was cool about the whole thing. The coworker said he was very pissed at me. I really need this job but how do you defend yourself against the owner’s kid? Would you just quit or try to stay?
