When I first went to college and was actually focusing, there was this man there who went completely under my radar until we had presented our introductory speeches. When he presented his, I found out he was 30 to my 20, a father, a separated couple, and a marine.

Well, my interest was piqued.

We began to get close to one another and as time progressed, feelings came about. He told me that the first day I came into class, he stood up straighter, as if it was a chemical reaction to my scent. He told me that it drove him crazy.

Something happened and we were no longer able to keep in contact, but I understood what he meant by that physical attraction. He was 6’1 to my 5’9 and made me feel protected in a way no one had before.

Now, fast forward into my next semester…

I’ve burned through two possible relationships during my summer and ended up back with my ex. He’s trying to work on himself, but he knows that, for the time being, we’re still only talking.

I had a class today and there in the damn corner was a man who was apart of the Navy. He looked like him… He walked liked him. It was like seeing a younger version of the Marine I had fallen in love with just a few months prior.

I didn’t pay attention to him at first but then it became apparent, or at least in my mind, that he was paying attention to me. That intense stare was the same one my Marine had had, and I wondered… for a brief moment, if he too was caught up in this chemical reaction.

It’s too early to tell where anything, if anything, is going anywhere… but I watched him walk out of class like a love struck school girl, and when I noticed my ex was waiting for me in the corner, I was glad my bangs were overgrown at the moment.
