As I get older, and my body slowly gets weaker, I find myself thinking of good places to die. I mean, I’m in my 30s, and I have about 30 years left, if I am lucky. But still. Today, for example, I was with my kids at a playground, which happened to be next to a very nice, peaceful park. The park had a fountain in it, and I thought to myself, “right next to that fountain, on a day like today… that would be a good place to die.” Then sometimes, I want to die in a very public place, so everyone will say (for a day or two afterwards, at least), hey – that guy died here the other day. There’s a mall here with a huge open foyer area. Two years ago someone jumped from the top of the foyer and fell 8 stories to the food court at the bottom, dying instantly of course. To this day, people who work there avoid the area where the guy hit. It’s just too creepy.
Of course, like most people, I will die in a hospital. Lame.
