I’m a stay-at-home dad in a neighborhood full of stay-at-home moms. Is it just a guy thing, to immediately begin thinking “affair”? Do women not also think the same thing? I’ve been here five years. I’m outside with my children constantly. I talk to the mothers constantly. Yet not one of them has even given me a hint of flirting. I’m not THAT ugly. And I’m here, available. All of our kids have the same nap time. It wouldn’t be hard to coordinate something. Maybe it is just a guy thing. If one of them showed just a little interest, a little giggle, flip of the hair, touch on my shoulder, etc… I’d flirt right back. I just want to scream sometimes: “Come on people! We’re wasting valuable time! We need to get this ball rolling already, before our bodies are too old to enjoy it anymore.”
