I hate going to the food charity. I lost everything to someone else being corrupt and bribing, but I still have to feed my family. All the of the people there are so depressing. The smell engulfs you. Have you ever smelled someone rotting from meth? It is like a revolting caress that chills you to the bone. I see the track marks on their arms and it’s accompanied by the stench of someone that hasn’t showered for ages; this smell is interwoven between the scent of stale crackers and what can only be explained as inexplicably malodorous poop. Then there are the people that are drunk off out of their mind. I have never had alcohol so I can tell if someone has had a only a few drinks the night before, just by the smell on them. The people at the food charity must have never stopped drinking because the smell comes wafting through the room and plants one on your chin; I can barely keep my gag reflex tame. Some of these people have children!!! Just once I want to see an honest family that is on hard times come in for food. The charity is not helping either. Their “slow to go” attitude causes having to come in an hour before they open so that you can get in and out without making a day of it. They are taking away these people’s ability to try and correct their life (I they had any intention to change). So I wait in line, outside where the stink still does not disperse, only to get “peeps” candies and anything else from the bottom of someone’s pantry that they would never eat so that I can have a semi healthy meal for my family. I am sorry if I sound ungrateful, I just needed to vent.
