I know that he didn’t plan to ask me to marry him. He asked without a ring, knowing full well that I am the kind of woman who dreamed of having an original (not expensive – just unique) engagement ring. I actually told him that before, so he knows. What bothers me is not that I lack a material object to show for myself – but that he literally put no time or effort into popping the question. It’s just not how I would have imagined things to have happened. It concerns me that we do not share the same vision.
