My brother has the equally classic, cheap and arguable awesome BOSS DS-1 Distortion. Which I don’t know if I’m a fan of. I don’t think he knows if he’s a fan of. There is a difference between Distortion, Overdrive, and Fuzz. I’m not a fan of fuzz, but I like some music that uses fuzz. Smashing Pumpkins, Billy Corgan is fuzz. Cherub Rock. I am not a fan of fuzz, but that’s not to say I’m not a fan of music played with fuzz, by someone who knows hot to utilize it. My bro had one of those Orange DS-1s in the 80’s. When I was learning guitar in the early 90’s, before I even bought a guitar, I was playing my uncle’s electric guitar, a Weston, plugged into a ghetto blaster mic input. Then I found his Fostex cassette 4 track recorder which I had to open up hoping to fix and managed to fing a loose belt, fallen right off and the wheels it connected to which fixed it, and his bag of BOSS pedals. Coming up with my own jams, inspired by grunge. I was creative then. I can’t remember what it was, I think I used a DS1 and had it sounding cool. Different, but cool.

Distortion os just that. I can’t describe Overdrive, but I know what it is. It’s what I like. What I prefer. I should try the DS1 in place of the SD1 just too see. That’s why I went for the Super OverDrive. I said, younonow what? F*** that, I’m ending the style. Same price. Affordable, very cheap $ for a BOSS Stomp Box, that’s first cheap. I want the equally classic OD. I’m not disappointed. I’d would go as far as to say that now that I have it, I can’t see myself ever playing without it. It’s a huge improvement to the Micro Dark. It makes no sense not to.
