Dear wife,

Yes, I get mad when you expect me to stay up for the half-hour that you are breastfeeding our child in the middle of the night. Why? Because you’re the one on maternity leave, that’s why! I still have to work in the morning. Our baby sleeps 16 hours a day. You can sleep 16 hours a day. If you choose to stay awake when she is napping, that’s not my fault. Is it not enough that I get up at night, change her diaper, and bring her to you? You expect me to also sit there and stay awake just because you have to? I didn’t design the breastfeeding system. God did. I didn’t decide to breastfeed only. You did. Yet you literally want to me to next to you at 3am and both stay silent but also awake to “keep you company”.

I operate heavy machinery at work – people can die if I go in tired. But you don’t care, as long as you don’t feel like “doing as much as you are” for the baby. What do you think I’m working so hard for? When was the last time I bought something for just myself with my money?
