To those of you who’d like to read people’s minds, I have a little reality check for you:
I’m a supernaturally anomalous person. There are other people out there who can do the same things as I do. However, I feel alone in the sense that I have quite a bit more extrasensory abilities than most of them, and they aren’t exactly social people either (me included).
Every Day, I have to suppress my mind from reading what my neighbors are thinking next door. Nothing they think matters in any important context, and sometimes it’s seemingly complete nonsense because they’ll be doing something I can’t see, and will have thoughts about it. This confuses me.
It gets annoying, because I’ll just be playing video games, unthinking in my own little world, and suddenly I ‘hear’ something unpredictable like “she’s not capable of doing that” from next door, or something just completely out of context that I can’t see happening. It’s just someone’s thoughts though. My neighbors are two females who have some very contradictory characteristics. Enough said.
And my disabled neighbor who’s a 55 Year old autistic man, doesn’t think much at all (thank Heavens). However, his 2 other roommates think quite a bit, and their thoughts drive me insane.
My Landlord, who doesn’t think much because he’s mostly working, I’ve relied on previous Landlords and their thoughts to remind me to pay rent. This backfired badly, because I relied too much on people’s thoughts, and eventually he started to come over to remind me of rent thoughtlessly and without emotion, which made it extremely difficult to read his mind. In other words, he went into autopilot. This was the only time NOT reading someone’s mind annoyed me.
Birds don’t think much, but they have weird brains, so it feels like being shoved into a speedy narrow loop whenever I read them. Hard to explain. Dogs and cats can think very few words, and some even rarely think sentences. That’s always been very fascinating to me, but I digress.
Babies are the weirdest, but the easiest to put up with. They don’t think very much, or even feel very much for up to 7 Months. Don’t get me wrong, they DO feel, but just not very much, or for a very long time, despite their body’s automatic responses lingering on in reaction to irritant stimuli. They have no idea what’s bothering them at all, and are just reacting on mindless basic instinct.
I forgot to explicitly mention that I also sense emotions. My ‘empathic’ abilities are what provide a foundation for mind-reading. Without people’s emotions, it’s 80% harder for me to read their thoughts. Normally, I can’t be looking at the people I’m reading, because that distracts me somehow, and makes it impossible to read their minds.
Mind-reading is gay and boring. There are too many conditions needed to execute the action, any thinking person in general is hard to live next to, and sometimes I get rude thoughts from other people I don’t know. What’s the purpose? When am I going to hear a murder plan in someone’s head or something, and be able to save someone from death?
It’s not fun, there’s no sense of purpose in this ability, and I could probably do very well with a girlfriend, but I’m extremely shy when talking to women who are attractive and nice at the same time, so that’s out the window. Speaking of which, I get more emotional around emotional people, especially those types of women. I tend to know exactly what they’re thinking when they give you the silent treatment, but that’s always been a 2nd-hand experience.
I get strange emotions from people walking on the sidewalk in Town. I don’t like how impure people’s thoughts are, but they’re not exactly thinking anything depraved or unacceptable. Maybe I just don’t like how differently they feel on the inside.
It’s so hard to write this. I heard my half-sleeping roommate’s thoughts a couple minutes ago. He was thinking he really needed to go to the bathroom, and for some reason, that’s an exceptionally crystal-clear thought. I sense that a lot from my neighbors next door too.
And of course, last, but absolutely not least at all: No sleep. I get almost NO SLEEP! Ever since I was a baby, it’s been 3-4 1/2 hours of sleep every Night. Sometimes less than that. The last time I got a full 7 hours was 8 Years ago. I remembered that number because I was so ecstatic that I finally slept. I haven’t been able to replicate that Night ever since. This is all thanks to my ‘ability’.
Sometimes, I just want to die. I can’t sleep, and the pandemic hasn’t been improving people’s emotions, so that’s a big “f*** you” to me from the pandemic. I easily switch political opinions, to the point it’s disorienting, because it’s too easy to agree with people’s feelings, since I can literally feel what they’re feeling, which can be total mental chaos.
I can’t be too pessimistic though. I do deal extremely well with learning professional information, due to people’s affinities for their passions, which makes it easy to motivate and remind me about certain professions. However, when I’m not around those who take pride in their works, I feel nothing for it.
