I pretend that I never have any problems with goes on at my workplace. But in all honesty…

Come on, guys.

I work at a little place that’s very laid back, but is very prejudiced against certain employees for no good reason.

The manager does no work, and whines about the employees all the time. Her new assistant (who just got moved up from being just a lead) is still my friend, but sometimes she starts acting like the manager, and it’s worrying me because I don’t want her to become like her.

They lie to our customers about the care of their pets (it’s a doggie daycare/boarding business). One dog attacked another one, and he had to go to the vet and get staples in his head. His ear is permanently scarred. And the management told the owner of the dog that made the attack that there was a “little scuffle.” A little scuffle?! Your dog disfigured another dog!!!

We get bitten all the time, too. And the only time they put in reports for staff injury is when someone gets sent to the hospital. One dog only got kicked out after he tore up an employees hand.
There are dogs who shouldn’t be allowed to be in the building because they’re DANGEROUS to other dogs, and sometimes people, but the manager lets them in anyway because it means more money.
Not to mention that pay rates are all over the place. How much you get paid depends on how much the manager likes you.
Everything we have is broken or breaking down. Some employees are allowed to break rules while others are not.

We’re not supposed to have phones on us while working. No one listens to that rule. Almost everyone keeps their phones with them. The assistant gets to bring her tablet everywhere with her, and she spends a lot of her time playing around on Facebook. Then she tells us we’re not paying enough attention to the dogs.

Today I finally got caught using my phone. The manager sent a message to me about it on the staff board, where EVERYONE could plainly see it.
F*** you too, lady.

Then, she wrote a message about it in the staff notebook (which is supposed to be used to share important information, but the manager uses it to make passive aggressive comments about the staff) about getting us getting written up if we use our phones.
Then don’t use tablets. And hey manager, maybe you should get up and actually DO something for once. All you do is sit in your office and yell at us from time to time.

She also posted a quote about integrity in the break room afterwards. All that cuz she caught me on my phone once. I’m never late. I work harder than most of the people there. But nothing stops her b**** mode, I suppose.

Also, everyone hates my best friend who works there. I met her there, and we get along really really well. But no one else likes her. Especially the assistant. But the assistant likes me. They treat my friend terribly, and I get punished for being her friend. And I’m sick of it. It’s stupid. I mean, what are we, middle schoolers?

The manager and assistant aren’t even with the dogs most of the time, but they’ll look back at us from up front and tell us how to handle the dogs.

If you’re so concerned about what’s being done, YOU go fix it. Don’t complain about us if we’re not doing things exactly how YOU would.

I was getting a piece of rubber out of a dog’s mouth today (you know, so she didn’t choke on it, or swallow it and hurt her insides), and one dog started chasing another around. Happens all the time. I wanted to get the rubber away from the first dog first though, cuz it was actually dangerous. The assistant however started lecturing me on how to tell if a dog was upset (and duh, I’ve worked there over a year, I think I can tell for myself by now), and how to fix it. I was kinda busy at the moment, thanks.

I can take a pretty good amount of b******* before I reach my breaking point. But I’m finally past that point. No more. I’m quitting, and I guarantee that I won’t go out quietly. I’m gonna find a million little passive aggressive things to do before I go to even the score. For myself, and for my unfairly treated friend.
It’s time they got a taste of their own medicine.
