I have two friends who both have forms of depression. One of them, although she has fairly wild mood swings, NEVER makes me feel like I’m being attacked. The other one does. It’s terrible, and she accuses me of not caring enough about her, and all I want to do is tell her that caring is a two way street, but she would say that she cares about me way more than I care about her. I would like to end the relationship, but she only just actually got diagnosed, and apparently she was s******* abused, and I feel like I CAN’T end the relationship just after learning that… I know she needs support, but I don’t know if I can give her what I want–I don’t have the time or the capacity to give her the constant attention she’s craving.
I think the worst thing is, her attacks feel like the way my dad used to act before he went on anti-depressants, and it hurts me. I thought that was over, and I just don’t want a relationship like that. It’s like a black hole, and I don’t want to fall in.
