“I got groped by someone I thought was my friend and half the people I told didn’t want to hear it because it made them uncomfortable. I keep remembering it and I feel guilty for being traumatized when other people have been through worse.”
To the person who posted this, I am so sorry you had to go experience something horrible.
I’m so sorry that people didn’t want to listen to you, nor were willing to hear you. Please don’t feel guilty for being traumatized. The trauma is not your fault. What happened was not your fault. And it may be true that there are people who have went through worse, but that doesn’t mean what you experienced wasn’t horrible.
What you feel is valid. People experience different pains, just because it’s not as bad, does not mean you should invalidate yourself and your experience. I sincerely pray to God that you heal, because holy s***, I just want to slap the people who said that they didn’t want to hear what you said, when you clearly needed someone to listen. Because that’s already a heavy weight on your shoulders.
Please understand that what happened to you was terrible. Please don’t invalidate what happened just because you think it’s not as bad as what happens to other people. I am so proud of you for staying strong. I know I am only a stranger online, but I love you man. I care. And I know a lot of people out there do too.
Continue to stay strong, and I pray you’re on your way to healing from what happened.
