Now that I’ve got your attention, let me tell you that I wasn’t even shocked when he told me that he is gay and in a happy relationship. My first serious boyfriend is now my best friend and I couldn’t be happier for him. You’d think I’ll go all homophobic and raging about it, but for me it’s completely normal. Moreover, deep inside it feels great knowing that a person who you admire, love and like so much never really replaced you with another girl. It actually feels pretty great. I hate how people pretend to be accepting, but then say something homophobic out of nowhere and you realize that being accepting is all you can do really. It’s the best gift to a friend who is gay.
