We have never lived in a greater time. We have never had more knowledge as a human race. We have never had more prosperity. We have never had more medical advancements. We have never had more technology. We can accomplish more with less effort. We can travel great distances in short amount of times. We can feed more people more efficiently than ever before.

We have never lived in a worse time. Never has greed, impatience, lack of empathy and sympathy, and outright hatred soured so much good. We should be ushering in a era of unwonted prosperity, good will and peace. Instead we are threatened by terrorists in one form or another (people who always think that their cause is worth sacrificing more human lives), constantly aware of a nuclear threat, and worried that our ecosystems won’t collapse utterly.

Never have I been more amazed at how right 2 Timothy 3:1-5 is “But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power.”

Some of you might say that the bible is old and outdated. That it is simply wrong and has no application to our times. This verse coupled with other verses makes me feel different. Never has it been more applicable and dead on.
