I had a pet German Shepherd once. He was a beautiful dog, and a smart dog. I didn’t treat him very well. I neglected him, I yelled at him, I provoked him, I hit him a few times when I got angry with him, and later on, we sent him off to somewhere else. He’s happy where he is now, but…now that I’ve grown up, I really miss him. And I feel so horribly guilty over the way I treated him, because I really did love that dog. He was so beautiful and friendly and protective of those who loved him. He didn’t deserve how he was treated, he deserved much better.
I love you, Spirit. I’m sorry for all the torment I put you through, and I hope wherever you are now, you can find it in your heart to forgive me. I’m so, so sorry. I wish I could see you one more time just so I could give you a big hug and tell you how much I love you. I wish I could go back and make it better, and treat you better. You were only a dog, but you were my dog, and you deserved so much better than what I gave you. I love you, and I’m very, very sorry…
