I am numb.
While I view others as they go out, enjoy themselves, and live the life I was intended to live. I sit here, envying the others as if I’m missing out. But as soon as I join them, I feel nothing, absolutely nothing.
I sit alone, drinking my single malt scotch as if it’s my only friend. But I have friends, so I sit there, wondering as to what is wrong with me. But, when it comes down to it, I enjoy being alone.
When I tell people that I drink alone, they say it’s dangerous, irresponsible and a slippery slope to alcoholism. But I disagree, I’m aware of my limits and well aware of the repercussions of such a lifestyle. I am not an alcoholic; I just enjoy a drink like anyone else. It just so happens that I prefer to do this alone.
But despite this fact, and my self-assurance that I shall not go down such a path. The only moments in which I feel something is with a neat and two fingers, and music flowing in the background.
And so I sit here, looking into the bottom of the glass. Both happy and always contemplating, what is wrong with me.
