My 9 year old son accidentally stepped on the kitten, a little baby we’ve only had for a couple weeks. He was carrying groceries in for his mother, didn’t see the kitten and stepped on it. Crushed the poor thing. Lots of blood coming out the mouth, and feces coming out the end… ribs obviously broken, internal injuries galore, back broken. I got the call at work that my son accidentally killed the cat from my bawling daughter, and rushed home. I hugged my very distraught son, daughter and wife, assured my son not to feel guilty (he was a wreck, the poor guy – feel awful for him), and told them I would go bury the cat. The wife put the cat in a box in the garage… and… the poor creature was still alive. Barely. Frothing blood, twitching, gasping, obviously in horrible pain for the last 20 minutes it has been alive. So help me god… I couldn’t stand it. I know I should have taken it to a vet to humanely euthanize it… but I had to do something. I grabbed that little kitten that has slept so many times on my chest… whispered God forgive me… then I snapped its neck and choked it out. I feel like a monster. I felt its dead body slip limply out of my bloody, murderous hands. I buried it. I feel so awful.
