I cut myself – frequently. In the same place with the same knife that I’ve done it with for a while. People tell me that it’s wrong to cut myself.
So I finally break down and go to therapy, and what does the therapist tell me? She tells me the same thing that I’ve been told since I started cutting myself. “It’s wrong to cut yourself.”
Tell me, why is it wrong to cut yourself?
I am careful and concise with my cutting. I sanitize the blade in alcohol each time I use it, and I clean the wounds I make thoroughly. I know where to cut without putting my life in danger, and I don’t cut too deeply. I cut enough to where I bleed and feel pain, that’s it. I don’t rip muscle, and the wounds heal within a month.
I don’t cut for attention or emo purposes – I cut for punishment. Some priests will fast when they sin, or maybe they’ll meditate on their sin and ask God for forgiveness.
Well, I do that, with a blade on my ankle. It’s not self-harm, it’s self-punishment. Please tell me what’s wrong with that.
