A few days ago, I informed my close friend (male) that I changed my number. Unfortunately he did not receive the text message because of the slow internet connection; which is ONLY a possibility. Later this evening I messaged him and he replied, “who am I talking to?” I informed him my name and asked if I had the correct person, all the while referring to my friend.

He commented “No. I am not.”

“Okay, I am sorry.” I replied.

The only issue: I knew damn well it was him. His number did not change over the night and his usage of words (I did not apply the full conversation) spoke volumes that it was him.

I am trying to /not/ be upset about it but I am. Yes, I should not care about who does not “want” me. However, he was someone special and I have formed a close relationship to him. He could have told me that he would prefer to depart instead of portraying that it was not him.

I need suggestions on how to cope with this situation. Please offer them.
