I have not really communicated this to any of family members or friends, but I don’t feel proud of the person that I am. I feel that people have the wrong impression of me. Even though people like and love me and I think I am nice and smart and caring, I can tell that I don’t have respect (in the sense of not messing with me), and it’s all my fault. It’s because I don’t have the ability to stand up for myself on a regular, consistent basis. Sometimes I feel so ashamed when I think about all the times I let people pick on me, humiliate me and step on me. All those times I just silently, passively took it. And all those people moved on, but I am still suffering the effects. I am 24 years old, but sometimes I don’t feel like a real adult. As though I am behind the curve. I know that I have so much to be proud of and grateful for. I know that I am a very smart, kind, caring, helpful, generous and dedicated person. I know that I try to admit when I’m wrong and take responsibility for my actions. I know that I always try to do the right thing at the end of the day. But I am just not proud of the way that I let people treat me. And I feel like I don’t think sometimes. I say too much, things that people normally keep to themselves, and then I regret it after.
