My father prefers my children over my sister’s child because of their gender. Our father comes from a family where one gender is spoiled and the other is expected to work their asses off for anything they want. I have two of the spoiled gender. I am also married and my children were conceived during my marriage whereas my sister is a single never married parent. This would bother me more except with our mother it is reversed- she prefers my sister’s child over mine. So while my sister is bothered by our father’s treatment I say nothing because I feel it evens out the preferential treatment her child gets from our mother. I don’t feel guilty because I am often left to myself by our mother because I am married and she is not. So I let our father spoil my children because it feels good to get back at my sister. Now she knows how it feels.
