I frequently get irritated when adults try to act overly cutesy. It’s all fine and well in moderation, but some of these people just overdo it by talking in baby talk for 60% of their conversation, throwing out the whole “kiss kiss” sounds liberally, and otherwise putting an affect into their voice or drawing out words in specific ways. You probably know what I’m talking about: people who draw out the word please (PLEEEEZZEEEE), talk in an overly pompous “proper man/lady” voice, or finish every other sentence with a high girlish lilt like a baby or like how you’d talk to a baby.
It’s annoying as hell because most of these people are grown-a** women and men. It’s cute/funny the first 1-2 times someone did it, but after the 80th time I just feel like driving spikes into my ears. I’m not going to say anything to them because it’d be petty and rude since I can always ignore them for the most part when the conversation isn’t directly aimed towards me, but damn… I just wish that this fad would end. It seems like this really started up in the last 10 years or so. I just wish people could talk to each other like normal human beings for 90% of their conversation.
