In the year and a half since we took this rental I’ve had to re-paint 3 rooms. Not touch up but full paint jobs and I’m getting pissed off having to fix the landlords s***** workmanship. They had a perfectly good surface to work with in the bathroom, uggh assholes put gloss directly onto the walls without a sealant in a f***** bathroom.

Realised their mistakes then tried to cover it over with cheap emulsion. I’ve had to scratch fill in then sand down the gloss I can’t get off just for a key in for the primer. It’s going to take 3 or 4 coats maybe 5. Okay I’ve used my own money but it’s the fact they don’t want the house to be painted anything other than white.

White on top of white every single blemish takes 3 times as much work to fix. They’re f***** morons. If they had done a half assed job I could work around it and give back like for like when we move but the paint in the bathroom started flaking off and mold was spreading like wildfire.

When you take a rental that’s unfurnished freshly painted as ready for instant possession you assume all it needs is your own little touches. No! no feature walls white only no wallpaper either. They used emulsion in the kitchen as well emulsion on the rad pipes and left the rear yard looking like a tip before when we took the keys. They even used the sink to dispose of oil based paint. My wife and I cleaned everything like it was new.

Oven fridge sinks cupboards all spotless, they promised it would be ready for handover. We committed ourselves but too late we’d nowhere else to go and had to move in on the agreed date and time. ‘Legitimate’ Landlords crying out for good tenants wouldn’t know one if they bit their leg off.

I’ve heard of some good getbacks at landlords, fish under the floor boards or painting the whole house inside gloss black but we aren’t students or that way inclined. The rental agreement states like for like but they’ll actually get it back in better condition. Hopefully this our last rental. I can’t do this s*** anymore. Oh well back to the bathroom.
