I adopted a cat when he was 5. We had 11 years together. I had moved to a new state and had no friends my marriage was failing for a few years but we managed to patch things up.I developed agoraphobia and ptsd so never left my house much so he was my entire world when he died I lost it. A tree just hit our house and caused thousands worth of damage to the roof so I couldn’t aford to cremate him like I wanted. I buried him under a tree and had full blown depression and panic attacks about it for 2 years. Every time I looked at the tree when out with my dogs I would break down and cry . When my mother in laws cat I was fosteri ng died I asked the crematory after reading some people in apartments dog up their animals when they move if she had ever had the request, shockingly she said yes but if have to dog him up. She said she would do him for free along with my motherinlaws cat but the ash would be mixed. She would do him for FREE. I couldn’t refuse. I want out did him up. I swear to God right before I hit his box I HEARD him purring. I had heard his meow through a ghost box session a year before hand I knew it was him. Very distinct. When I pulled the box up out of the ground I was scared because it started breaking apart. Shockingly even though it had been 2 uears there was NO decay no bugs no liquid nothing. All his fur still in tact he looked like I put him there yesterday. I had put him in a towel tightly wrapped in a wood box.I wore gloves and a mask when digging him up. I felt his fur one last time near handed though. Then off he went to get cremated. I put some ashes under the tree and have the rest. I do not regret this. My husband and dad both said I could get sick but I didn’t care I had to do it and I’m so happy I did because now no.matter where I live i have him always. And some of him will stay here where he lived. I still cry it’s been 5 years.now. but it’s really helped my grieving now I know I have him and didn’t leave him behind. Now I have a cremation fund for my other animals no matter what I will never have to do that again
