This was something I witnessed when I was in high school. It was very sad but scary at the same time. This whole thing happened so fast.
So, whenever I head over to my classroom,I always have to pass by this room for special ed kids. One day i was heading to lunch and, like always, pass by that room. I remember passing by, only to see a chair be thrown halfway across the room and onto the floor(they sometimes have their door open, that’s how I was able to see what was going on). After that there was a teacher(who looked to be in her her early sixties I think) slowly backing away with her arms out, telling someone to stop. And of course that someone was one of her students.
This student was a chubby girl with black curly hair, and she looked bigger than the teacher.
(I’d normally see this girl in the cafeteria sitting in the corner*on a single chair*randomly yelling. Annoying everyone within earshot.) She was walking up to the teacher looking like she wants to strangle her. Immediately, as I see her trying to get close to the teacher, two other teachers came in and tried to restrain her. And the girl started to shriek.
I think those two were there in case if anything went south. I was glad that she was stopped. Because if they weren’t,
I would’ve called for help or something. And there was no way I could take her down myself. I’m small compared to her.
I honestly had no idea what set this girl off. But it was very sad to see. Sadly this does happen to a lot of teachers who have to deal with special ed. Sometimes these kids can be unpredictable. And these teachers don’t know exactly what to do.
This was something I just wanted to share. Just to get it off my chest. Plus i just wanted to spread some awareness about how special ed is overlooked. And that they need just as much help as the rest of the education system.
