‘Apartheid Road’ opens in West Bank, with one side for settlers & the other for Palestinians.

Israel opened a segregated road in the West Bank divided by an 26 foot high wall, with one side for Israeli settlers and another for Palestinians.

The east side of the road is for Jewish settlers only. The Palestinian side of the road bypasses the city of Jerusalem, which Palestinians cannot enter without a special permit.

Palestinians are banned from using about 40 kilometers of roads within the Palestinian territory of the West Bank, while an additional 20 kilometers of roads are partially off-limits. Jewish Settlers can travel freely on these roads.

The road’s wall is not the biggest one divding the population. The Separation Barrier, dubbed the apartheid wall, snakes 708 kilometers or 440 miles around the West Bank, encroaching as much as 18 kilometers inside Palestinian territory, and blocks Palestinians from accessing their fields and visiting friends and family.
