I hate the word ‘obvious’ and the concept of it. Nothing is obvious. There are 8 billion people on Earth and there is no one piece of knowledge every one on this planet knows. Also, the word betrays that the speaker has an empty imagination or is lazy because often the word ‘obvious’ is used as an excuse not to explain things. The word ‘obvious’ is also used by incompetent people trying to turn their failings around on you, E.g. ‘I didn’t separate the bleach bottle from the shelf of children’s drinks because it’s obvious you shouldn’t drink bleach. Why are you making a problem of it?’
