The dumb ones can’t understand that the stock market was artificially inflated with near-worthless free money given out during Covid. The business people who ended up with all of those inflated dollars had to put them somewhere, and so into the market they went. Stocks kept climbing with inflated dollar values, even though their real worth was stagnant. Now the inflated amounts are being sucked out of that same market, and people think their retirement nest eggs are on fire.
