Yeah he was a good buddy. I talk bad about him now, I’m angry about s***, I feel like he double crossed me, injected himself into places he didn’t belong, but I was a new kid there. Quiet, not saying too much. Most of them were cool. To me this place had a bad rep, but I was pretty cool too. I had my issues,. But I wasn’t unlikeable. A group of them talking behind me, we were all into music. I heard this dude mention drums. I turned around “did I hear you say you play drums?” Yeah… Cool. Let that sink in. Caught him walking home, walked with him, by his house, let’s here you play man. I play drums too, let’s see what got. Yeah, come on. Gives her s***. I said “man, you’re f*****’ awesome. Good playing, man. Flattering the s*** out of him. Let me try. I can’t play s***. I just banged the drums but I said “yeah, I don’t play, but I want to. Show me something. Ok. I think the first basics he layed down were the simple beat, high hat, bass, high hat snare, together and typically, when you want to hit a cymbal for accent, a crash cymbal, you want to do it on the bass drum so you’re hitting the bass drum at the same time as the cymbal. Of course, yeah you can do it with the snare too, something off, Stewart Copeland.
But yeah. Then I need a set of drums, and I also need some place to play them. That’s not easy.
