I’m a truck driver. I’ve maintained a clean record for five years of my driving career. I got a job with a respectable company delivering for the night shift and I got to go home most nights (days). I had a toddler at the time and a loving wife at home. The time apart was too much for us and the opportunity was too ripe for my young family. The company I drove for had a rider policy. Only one person allowed and they had to be at least 10 years old.
Where I drove never had traffic, especially at night. So my wife, child and I would coordinate a spot to meet up and they would come along for the ride in the sleeper, properly secured. When my child fell asleep for the night, we’d safely restrain him in the bed from rolling around and my wife would come up front with me. We did this dozens of times over the course of a year and we loved every minute of it. Rarely ever saw another vehicle, and never had any close calls. Never got caught.
