Apparently I need to be spoken to like I’m seven years old. It’s been three years now, and nobody I’ve asked has helped me to make sense of what the hell is the difference between the electoral and popular vote? And how can a candidate get spanked in the popular vote, and still win, because he won the electoral vote? As far as I can tell, “she won the popular vote” is a handy way of saying the ninety-nine percenters generally voted for her, and “he won the electoral vote” means people richer and more important voted for him, or possibly the lizard people or the f****** illuminati, what do I know, and he’s our president because *mumble, mumble, payoffs, mumble, mumble, tax breaks,* f*** you, that’s why. Is that more or less how it shook out?
