To: I’ve lied not only to my parents but everyone else (including my husband) saying I went to college. Me: Stay with your lies, live your lies, don’t be concerned about being caught out, you won’t be, not ever and honestly, no one will give a blind f***, as long as you keep your secret to yourself. If you admit that you are a fraud to any of them, they will think you are basically dishonest and they won’t trust you ever again and that could destroy the relationships you have with them now and everything else which you enjoy.
If you want to make a change for the better, stop telling lies, because the easiest way to get caught out, is when you say something you did, which was different to the lie you told and someone takes you up on it. Lies are so hard to remember because they are not based on something that happened to you and so you don’t have a reference point in your memory to recall the lie from, whereas with a truth, you can picture the event in your mind and recall it.
My advice to you is to put all of the lies into a mental shoe box, close the lid and store it away in your mind, never to be opened again and live your life as freely and without any guilt and as fully as you can. You have hurt nobody, because nobody knows the truth, they all believe your lies, which is great for you – have a laugh at how clever you have been and pat yourself on the back – full marks to you for this one kid………and you are not alone, everyone lies, they just don’t admit it, like you have…..
