I would agree with a lot of what you say, especially about Abrahamic Religions (Christianity, Islam) but I would say that the Dharmic Faiths (Jainism, Hinduism, Sikhism, Buddhism) are a little different and are less slaves to money as you say. There are thousands of religions documented throughout history.
